PROJECT:HUMAN INSTRUMENTS

Project: Human Instrument was spearheaded by Music Director and local composer Liew Kongmeng. A number of talented children at the SSD were specially selected and trained over just under two months to sing together as an ensemble. These children were taught to sing at an assigned pitch, and when put together they all form a certain musical scale. As the project title suggests, the ensemble works like a musical instrument, with each singer only singing his pitch at the assigned location in the score and at a certain note value.

The vocal ensemble was invited to perform at the inaugural Singapore Association for the Deaf gala dinner at the Marina Bay Sands, with Liew Kongmeng conducting.
